The MDIS School of Fashion and Design was established to nurture a new generation of creative professionals in the fields of Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing through teaching excellence.
In correspondence to the rapidly growing and ever-changing fashion and Jewellery industry, the School is offering more varied degree programmes for those who have interests in either fashion design or fashion marketing and communication. In 2019, The Jewellery Design and Management International School (JDMIS), a MDIS joint venture, continued to grow and build awareness of Fashion and Jewellery industry in Singapore and abroad.
With Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fashion and Textile Design awarded by the University of Portsmouth, students are ready to make their mark on the fashion world and unleash student creative ideas, this is the Fashion and Textile Design degree course to explore student individuality as a designer, and to experiment and innovate use of textiles. This Design degree enables the student to establish a career as a successful designer for the fashion and textile industry, recognizes student individual strengths, and supports the student in becoming a confident and knowledgeable professional in the fashion and lifestyle industry.
In the Fashion Marketing and Communication’s specialization, MDIS offers the Higher Diploma in Fashion Marketing and Communication and this programme provide a progressive education in Fashion Communication that focuses on the technical expertise for the development of contemporary and original fashion media and communication direction. This programme will allow a degree pathway in Fashion Communication and Promotion.
Hence with these two specialized programmes, the School hopes to groom students to be competitive young talents of the industry.
Students will undergo a 100% coursework curriculum based on project and studio practice. Learning experiences are also enhanced through an optimum student-lecturer ratio, classes with experienced teaching faculty, and in addition to modern facilities housed within on-campus Fashion Studios.
To work towards a more industry-led learning ground for the students, they will have opportunities to collaborate with local or global brands in practical real-life collaborations and in participating in the Graduate Fashion Show – all part of the curriculum here in our school in Singapore.
